Moody's Investors Service Releases Report on Michigan School Districts Financial Stress |

Moody's Investors Service recently released a report summarizing their assessment of the declining credit quality of Michigan School Districts. Michigan school districts have dealt with direct funding cuts, declining enrollment, growing cost for healthcare and retirement costs and limited opportunities to increase revenue. Since January of 2009, 88 Michigan School Districts out of 239 rated by Moody's were downgraded. This represents 37% of all the Michigan School Districts Moody's has rated. Attached for your information and review is a copy of the report. Hopefully it can help you with educating board members, staff and the community about the financial hardships faced by Michigan School Districts. |
