First Commuity Federal Credit Union-- Memorial Branch:
An Opportunity for your Child to
"Learn 2 Earn"
With support from employees at First Community Federal Credit Union (formerly Education First Credit Union), who train, supervise, and help our fifth graders to run our Memorial branch of FCFCU, "Savings Day" events will continue to be operational once again this year. At least twice a month, students can make deposits into their accounts here at school. To establish an account, simply fill out an application (available in the office) and return it to school with at least $5.00, the minimum amount required to open an account.
On "Learn 2 Earn" Savings Days, kids can deposit as little as 25 cents, or as much as they want into their accounts. This is a great way to help your child save for his or her Fifth Grade Camp experience--and to teach fiscal responsibility. Even if your child is in kindergarten or first grade, it's not too early to teach "money sense"--what a great way to watch savings grow, and to plan ahead for expenses--whether it's to buy a special toy, or to pay for a vacation or weekend getaway, camp, or even to start a college fund.
"Cash" in on Great Savings Adventure!
It's fun, easy, and beneficial. Each Savings Day, one lucky depositor wins a $5.00 gift card, and classes compete all year to win a pizza party. In addition, again this year we are having a drawing each month, and one student who has made a deposit sometime that month in school wins a Ty Beanie Baby representing "Cash" the Squirrel, our "Learn 2 Earn" FCFCU Mascot. Our CU theme is "Make A Splash--Earn Cash with "Cash!" After our last "Learn 2 Earn" Day this year, one name will be drawn from all the depositors for the whole year--and that student will win a pass to Splash Universe in Dundee! The amount of the deposit is not important--the habit of saving is! Help your child to learn to save money--open an FCFCU account today!
We would like to thank First Community Federal Credit Union for their donation of $50 to help purchase snacks (once again!) for the kids during last year's MEAP testing, as well as their donation towards the creation and maintenance of RCHS Alumni Hall, the RCHS FCFCU Scholarship, support of the Riverview Hall of Fame, and all the wonderful activities that take place here at Memorial. We also offer special thanks to Ms. MaryAnn Hammons, our FCFCU "Learn 2 Earn" coordinator and leader, as well as Ms. Lisa Hill, advisor from the Credit Union. We certainly appreciate the credit union's continual support of our students!

New Opportunities Offered by FCFCU
First Community Federal Credit Union--In addition to the "Learn 2 Earn" savings program, FCFCU gives scholarships to high school seniors, donates money to purchase snacks during MEAP testing, and supports the Riverview Hall of Fame through advertising. But perhaps the biggest contribution that FCFCU makes to Riverview is through their Community Advantage Program ("CAP" Program.) Last year, our school district got a check for more than $4700---just because we had community members who opened an account at FCFCU and designated Memorial School as their choice for monetary donations offered by the Credit Union.
If you'd like to get on board and help us to earn the maximum yearly donation (yes---the credit union cuts us a check!) of $5000, just open an account at First Community Federal Credit Union on Pennsylvania Road (across from Rivergate Terrace, next door to Riverview Florist) and choose Memorial School, CAP #7313 as your "organization" to receive the Community Advantage Program dollars. Each time you (or your kids, through the Learn 2 Earn program) use selected services at the credit union, you bring us closer to that $5000 gift! Nothing to buy or sell---just helping us to earn great dividends as you save and earn on your own accounts! Here's the link you need to access to enroll in the CAP Program if you already have an account. If you don't have an account, you can opt for CAP #7313 when you open one.
(Or just go to www.1stcomm.org to access the form and information about all the credit union has to offer.
In addition, FCFCU is making available a low-interest loan with a "pick your payment" foundation, so that you can purchase technology for your student to use in school. Now that we have wireless available in the schools, students are being encouraged to bring tablets and other devices capable of accessing Wi-Fi to school to be used in the classroom as a learning tool. See the flyer posted under "Please Read--Important Stuff" for all the details---but this is a chance to get a great loan from FCFCU to purchase and iPad, Kindle Fire, Nexus tablet, or other device for your student to use now, while you pay over a period of time that you choose. This offer ends October 31, so don't delay! Here's the link that you need to get to a downloadable PDF loan application:
