![]() ALMANAC RESOURCES Interested in finding out current information? Like to look at websites that are colorful, contain activities and have quality trustworthy information? Try an ALMANAC! Almanacs are books that are published yearly and contain information about events, phenomena and statistics for the past year(s) as well as charts, lists and graphs of useful and interesting facts relating to countries of the world, sports, entertainment and other popular topics. They are quick and easy to use. Here are links to a few websites for online almanacs that we have looked at in library skills. FactMonster is a very popular site with many different parts to it. To use the almanac, select "almanac" from the list of resources on the right side of the screen. There is a comprehensive menu of subjects and many activities to keep you busy. In addition to the almanac there is much more to FactMonster to explore. Have fun! This is the site for "The Old Farmers Alamanc for Kids". It is a student version of the "The Old Farmers Alamanac". Most of the information on this site centers around weather, astronomy, pets, and trivia facts and figures. Look at them all and enjoy at your leisure! |
Family Reading Nights for 2011-2012 school year: Time: Wednesday and Thursday 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Location: Memorial Library Children must be accompanied by a parent or sibling who is at least 16 yrs. old. Family Reading Night is for students enrolled at Memorial in grades 1-5 to be able to read and take AR tests on the computer. Students in Kindergarten are not enrolled in the AR program, but may still come and enjoy reading time with their family. Two of the Memorial paraprofessionals will be at the library to assist students and parents with Family Reading Night. Family Reading Night will be every Wednesday and Thursday unless otherwise notified. |
