Stormwater Management

In accordance with United States Environmental Protection Agency requirements, Riverview Community School District provides the community with information about our Stormwater Management Program.

Stormwater runoff flows directly into local creeks and rivers without treatment, which means everyday pollutants can have a direct impact on our environment. Improper disposal of materials such as oil, paint, fertilizer, and pesticides can contaminate stormwater, harm plant life, endanger wildlife, and affect water quality.

You can help protect our waterways by:

  • Never dumping materials—including grass clippings—into storm drains or drainage areas
  • Keeping catch basins near your property clear of debris
  • Properly disposing of household and yard waste

Riverview Community School District is committed to environmental stewardship and works to protect local water quality by following best practices across all district properties. Our efforts support the health of the Rouge River and Clinton River watersheds.

We encourage students, staff, families, and community members to get involved through local watershed initiatives and organizations, including the Rouge River Watershed Council, the Clinton River Watershed Council, and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments.
