- This letter reminds families that under Michigan law is a crime to make a threat against a school or district, whether or not the person who made the threat intends or has the ability to carry it out. Therefore, any student who makes a threat of violence toward their school or district, no matter the intent, may face criminal prosecution. Please talk with your student about digital responsibility, their online presence, and the seriousness of making threats.
