FAQ
- When will I know if my student is accepted?
- Notification of acceptance, denial, or waitlisted will be sent via email within 10 days after the application period ends.
- I already have a student enrolled in Riverview. Will my other students automatically be accepted?
- No. We can give preference to siblings of current Riverview students. There must be availability in the grade for the sibling and there must be no suspensions or expulsions.
- I have a student attending the GSRP program. Do I need to apply?
- Yes. For each K-12 student who does not live in Riverview, a schools of choice application must be on file.
- I have a student attending the Young 5s program. Do I need to apply?
- No. You would have completed an application before starting Young 5s, which is considered kindergarten.
- We used to live in Riverview. Do I need to apply?
- Yes. If your student(s) would like to continue attending Riverview Schools, an application must be submitted during the application window.
- Do I need to apply again if I already have a student enrolled?
- No. Current Schools of Choice students do not need to reapply. Once a student is enrolled, they are considered to be a Riverview student until graduation, or there is a break in enrollment.
- How are Schools of Choice students selected?
- If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of open seats per grade level, a random lottery will be utilized to select the students. Remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist. Schools of Choice selection is not first-come-first-serve.
- My student was put on the waitlist. What does that mean?
- If a spot becomes available before the end of the first week of the school year, you will be offered that spot.
- Will there be transportation for my student?
- No. Parents/guardians are expected to provide transportation. It is also expected that students will be dropped off and picked up on time.
